What people say about W2W

Ben, aged 18 when he used SYW2W, said, "The main advantage of having the wheels to work scooter is that it saves me a great amount of time in going to and from sixth form.  A journey that would take up to an hour on public transport, as there are no direct routes, now takes less than 20 minutes.  This gives me more time in bed, meaning I can concentrate better during lessons, and it also gives me more time after school to do homework, revise and to relax.  The scooter now makes the chore of going to sixth form a lot more enjoyable.  The cost of running it is also less than bus fare would be and so in the long run it saves me money as well as being faster than the bus."

Debbie, aged 29, from Sheffield, used a scooter to get to work. She said, "It is without doubt because of your project that I am still able to continue my employment. Due to the nature of my work supporting ex-substance mis-users and their children in a 24 hour rehabilitation project, my hours are at times ‘unsociable’ and public transport is not always available. Without the kind loan of one of the projects scooters I would again be reliant on taxis to travel too and from work when on an early or twilight shift."

With a view to her future transport needs, Debbie took driving lessons and passed her theory test, but needed a short extension to her scooter loan before she was ready to take her practical test.

Debbie says, "I really appreciate the scooter and really don’t know what I would have done without it at times; I thank you and all the staff at W2W so much for all the support you have given me."

David, aged 23, heard about SYW2W when he left school, and was surprised to learn it could help him get to work, too. He says, "I believe that it acted as motivation for me to go and get work.  Without this opportunity the temptation to stay at home and do nothing would have been far greater."

He found using a scooter cheaper than using the bus, and helped his punctuality, "which was regularly a problem for me during study.  I am pleased to say I have not been late once, which would have not been a possibility if I had been using public transport."

Adam, aged 18, said, "Without W2W I would not have been able to work shift work. There are no buses for me to catch.

I have also learnt another skill – how to ride a bike, and knowledge of the road. This gave me confidence to have driving lessons (car).

I have passed my test thanks to W2W which gave me the confidence. I now have a car. I have the same job. I feel I could not have progressed without your help."
